Why is your blog called Style e Grace, but your logo says Style & Grace?
This blog is pronounced “Style eh Grace” and the logo has an ampersand because “e” means “and” in Italian. When I was working on my logo, I wanted to design an ampersand that resembled an “e” so it would be easier to make the connection between the two.
Are you Italian?
I’m American, but I have Italian heritage and gradated high school in Naples, Italy.
What are your stats? I see them under everyone except you.
Name: Vanessa C.
Occupation: Style and Etiquette Coach
Height: 5’4” (and a half)
Body Shape: Hourglass
Skin Tone: Olive
Style: Girly with a Classic Twist
How can I be featured in a Street Style post?
I don’t accept submissions for Street Style features. From sisters to clients, from best friends to acquaintances… everyone you see featured in Street Style is a part of my life. I’m so incredibly blessed to have my life filled with such a diverse group of women and I include them in this blog so readers like you can easily find inspiration from women with their similar shape, size, ethnicity, and style.
Do you edit your pictures?
I use Photoshop to do minimal retouching. There’s great beauty and uniqueness in imperfection, so I normally just color correct and crop, but sometimes I’ll remove unwanted details, blemishes, and shadows if I think they’re distracting.
What kind of camera do you use?
I use a Canon 70D camera with a Canon 50MM F 1.2 lens, but I work with several different photographers and they all use different cameras and lenses.
Where do you get the pictures for your quotes?
Before starting this blog I was a Creative Director and a Fashion Stylist. One day I was looking through some of my older projects and I thought it would be fun to post some of them. So… I picked a few favorites, added some inspirational fashion quotes, and the rest is history!
How do you make your Color of the Week collages?
I start by picking a Pantone color and then I use it to create a color scheme that I like. I use Polyvore to find and save the different pieces of the outfit I want to feature (tops, bottoms, shoes, bags, and so on) and then I use Photoshop and InDesign to create the final Color of the Week collage. It’s a lot of work, but I love inspiring others to dress colorfully.
Why do you post quizzes that aren’t fashion or etiquette related?
I think it’s cool to know a little about a lot. My quizzes might be full of useless knowledge, but you never know when one of those tidbits will be the start to a great conversation… and I think good conversation has a lot to do with etiquette.
Why aren’t there any pictures of you on your Instagram?
I personally take all of my Instagram pictures with my phone. I’m not a huge fan of taking selfies, so you’ll see more of my life than my face on Instagram. If you want to see more pictures of me… head to Facebook. I use my Style e Grace Facebook page just like I use my personal page. You’ll see some links to my blog, but for the most part I post (non-blog related) status updates, pictures, and links to things I think are uplifting, funny, or interesting.
I really wanted to use all of my social media outlets differently so readers like you wouldn’t have to see the same blog post over and over again. So, in addition to using Facebook to share personal type stuff, I use Twitter to share fashion news, Pinterest to share things that inspire me, and Instagram to share the way I view different moments in my life.
